DK IBOMEKA "LOVE STORIES"

Someone to Love Me
(Ibomeka/Neale)

Effortless and unrehearsed
We drop to the sofa first
We unfold then intertwine
I was born to make you mine

If I fall - I fall into you
If I run - I run into you

Through the blind our shadows striped
Bleeding rays of city lights
Every breath so synchronized
Every moment stars align

If I drown - I drown in your sea
If I crash and burn - Then explode with me

Cause I wanted somebody to love me
How I needed somebody to love me
I’m so glad I found someone to love me
And it’s you...

Afterglow your flesh is hot
Never let this evening stop
Time is blurred by each caress
Of all my dreams you the best

If I fall - I fall into you
If I run - I run into you

Cause I wanted somebody to love me
How I needed somebody to love me
I’m so glad I found someone to love me
And it's you...

Interview
(Ibomeka/Neale)

I came early because of the snow
Sat myself so I could see the door
Saw you enter, peeped your style
Analyzed your gait and I graded your smile
Gentle hand shake - Ooo-- what’s this?
Give an extra point For a little kiss
Order drinks and then it begins
Ooo --You just don’t know what it is you stepped in…

Don’t be confused
I don’t like to do first dates, I do job interviews
I’m looking for troubling traits, crazy clues
And a few fatal flaws
Means that I never have to call you because
Why oh why do we insist on playing games like we’re prepared to try?
Meanwhile I sit and wonder why
But of course, by the very first course
We’re done, married, broke up and divorced
Thank you. Don’t call us we’ll call you.

Do you drink? Do you smoke?
You say you don’t do drugs but does that mean you don’t toke?
Are you a neat freak? Are you a slob?
How are you getting on with your folks?
Do you like your job?
You say you make money? Yeah I bet
But will you hesitate and wait when the waiter brings the cheque
And I never do let on when the evening’s going dreadfully wrong.

Don’t be confused
You know this ain’t no first date, It’s like an interview.
I’m looking for troubling traits, crazy clues
But a few fatal flaws
Means that I never have to call you because
Why oh why do we persist on playing games like we’re prepared to try?
Meanwhile I sit and wonder why
But of course, by the very first course
We’ve done married, broke up and divorced
Thank you. Don’t call us we’ll call you.

I’ve been hurt too often, so answer or refuse
But I’ve got fifty questions ‘cause these days twenty just won’t do

Won’t get screwed
Not gonna to waste my time on dates, this is an interview
I’m looking for troubling traits, crazy clues
Fatal flaws
That means I won’t have to waste my time because
Why oh why do we play this charade like we’re prepared to try?
Meanwhile I sit and let love die
But of course, by the very first course
We’re done, married, broke up and divorced
Thank you. Don’t call us we’ll call you.

I’ll Be Anybody
(Ibomeka/Neale/Kroeker)

It was shortly after dinner
On no particular day
You were cleaning up the dishes
I was folding TV trays
Your fingers stroked my arm
In a soft suggestive way
Since we don’t have any plans
I thought maybe we could play…

Scenario 1: We’re both outlaws on the run. And we’re both in disguise.
You’re Bonnie, I am Clyde.

Scenario 2: I’m on the volunteer firemen crew.
Looks like you’re on fire baby, but I know what to do.

Scenario 3: We’re both lost at sea in a sweaty diving bell.
That suits us both so well.

Scenario 4: We’re off on an African shore.
And every Nubian dance is all arms all feet and no pants.

When I’m with you
Anything will do
I’ll be anybody
And baby, so will you

I object your honour,
I ain’t done no crime
But punish me with your love baby
And we can do some time.

Scene 119: Those brakes don’t work too good
They call me Mr. Goodwrench
Let me look under your hood.

When I’m with you
Anything will do
I’ll be anybody
And baby, so will you

Excuse me Miss Policeman
Don’t think me impolite
Before you slap those handcuffs on me
You best read me my rights

Scene 138: I think you’re gonna enjoy.
If you give me some discipline
Cause I’m a bad, bad, bad, bad boy.

When I’m with you
Anything will do
I’ll be anybody, baby (x3)
And baby, so will you

Consolation Prize
(Ibomeka/Neale)

Kinda shocked to see you
But it’s cool I guess
I thought you got all your things
Was there something you left
Haven’t you moved on?
Let me make it clear
You think you’re talkin’ to me
But I’m so outta here

You’re making me so weary
You got me disillusioned
I’m like everything
That you’re so busy losing
All the love we had
Had no real foundation
The things I used to overlooked
I can’t help facing.

When you’re gone
I’ll miss your sweet caress, your tender kiss, your laugh
But that’s only half
You hid another, clueless brother on the side
And then you lied
With your big Gucci bag of alibis
I hear he’s already left
You wonder why.
I’m not your consolation prize.

Don’t like the way you live,
You’re playin’ so sensitive
Telling me I’m different from all the guys who drifted
The ones that broke your heart…
Don’t you even start!
’Cause you turned getting some on the side into an art.
I miss your skin upon me.
I miss your every breath.
Now it’s dawned upon me--
Can’t trust your tenderness
The first night that you saw me,
Did you really want happiness?
Or just a pawn to play another game of chess?

When you’re gone
I’ll miss your sweet caress, your tender kiss, your laugh
But that’s only half
You hid another, clueless brother on the side
And then you lied
Reached in your big Gucci bag of alibis
I hear he’s already left
You wonder why.
I’m not your consolation prize.

No. I won’t open that door. Not anymore. (4x)

I could try to fix it
My heart’s still open
it’s best to take a rest
And leave it broken

When you’re gone
I’ll miss your sweet caress, your tender kiss, your laugh
But that’s only half
You hid another, clueless brother on the side
And then you lied
Reached in your big Gucci bag of alibis
I hear he’s already left
You wonder why.
I’m not your consolation prize.

Found Around the Blues
(Ibomeka/Craig)

Clouds stop in the sky
While couples float by
Kites come down
And I’m found around the blues

Dinner for one
As the sun goes down
I try to hide
But I’m found around the blues

Sometimes I just don’t know what to do
While I sit and wait to be found by you

Honeymooning sweet tooths
Laugh out loud in the booth
But I’m reading the news
‘Cause I’m found around the blues

Sometimes I don’t know what to do
While I sit and wait to be found by you

My circle of friends
Blame it on my youth
But can’t never really come truth
While I’m soul unsound
Soul to the ground
And I’m found around the blues

So Long (It’s Alright)
(Ibomeka/Neale/Abedin)

I can testify
You’ve been getting by
With your alibis
For a long time and your web of lies
Had be pretty tied up
Around your finger baby
Like a perfect crime
But what’s in darkness must come to light
You’ve been caught

It’s alright, It’s okay
Go ahead Go
Cause I don’t need your triflin’ ways
Pack your things, Hit that road
Save those tears
Cause they ain’t workin’ no more
There comes a time when you done so wrong
I just gotta say so long

I’ve been torn apart
Cause the softer part of me
Wants to kiss you
And the weaker part
Wants to miss you
While the smarter part, needs to leave you
But the ghetto part keeps talking to me
Telling me

It’s alright, It’s okay
Go ahead Go
Cause I don’t need your triflin’ ways
Pack your things, Hit that road
Save those tears
Cause they ain’t workin’ no more
There comes a time when you done so wrong
I just gotta say so long

Use to represent
You were heaven sent
But you messed around and did not repent
You’ve been beggin’ me
But I won’t relent
Little Miss come and go is now came and went
And since my ass be payin’ the rent
Hit the cement

So Long, It’s okay
Go ahead Go
Cause I don’t need your triflin’ ways
Pack your things, Hit that road
Save those tears
Cause they ain’t workin’ no more
There comes a time when you done so wrong
I just gotta say so long

One Warm Night
(Neale)

There was a time in the landscape of my soul
It was all ice and snow
I threw away the sunshine of my heart
When I let my baby go
Now no matter what I do I can’t shake the cold

If I’m gonna make things right
I’m gonna need one warm night
One where the moon shines so unreal
With the power to make old wounds heal
Magic street lights smile from overhead
Erasing all the painful words once said
Then you turn to me Audrey Hepburn style
With only sweet love in your smile
On that warm night

Cold December and I’m chilled to the bone
Like I kinda cursed myself to walk these lonely streets alone
Hold my coat close, so the wind can’t bite through
What I wouldn’t do, just to be holding on to you
What’s a poor boy suppose to do?

If I’m gonna make things right,
I’m gonna need on warm night
One where a cricket plays a soulful serenade
And easy breezes recall sweet lovin’ made
I like the twilight of June
Mixed with the apple blossoms bloomed,
To make your broken heart change its tune
But I don’t think that’s gonna be to soon
I just need one warm night

And when she walked away
She said “boy this is the end
And don’t you even bother tryin’ to start no drama
If you’re on the street and see my mama, walk on by, walk on by”

You can shut me out your life now darlin’
And when you see me you can cut me down
But life’s gotta have its winter
Before springtime’s gonna come back around

If I’m gonna make things right
I’m gonna need one warm night
One where the moon shines so unreal
With the power to make old wounds heal
Magic street lights smile from overhead
Erasing all the painful words once said
Then you turn to me Hallie Barry style
With only sweet love in your smile
On that warm night

Ain’t No Woman
(Neale/Lopata)

Baby, I’ve been checking you steadily
You and me have been heavenly
So what’s with this bad energy
You’re sending me

Lately, what’s this you’ve been saying
Wondering if I’m only playing with you
Pay attention, cause I’m gonna set it down for you

Sure I could lie, play like I don’t give a damn
Why should I let you go with some other man?

I ain’t even havin' it
That’s just some kind of old tired player bull____
Can’t you see I ain’t losin’ you?

Ain’t no higher than a mountain top
Ain’t no sweeter than a lollipop
Ain’t nobody make me feel more hot
Ain’t no woman like the one I got
Ain’t more better than the body rock
Holdin’ your woman while the old school drops
Thinkin’ I’ll love you till the last tick tock
Ain’t no woman like the one I got

Baby, It’s like we’ve both been half asleep
Wide open eyes that didn’t see
How truly mad and deep our crazy love can be

Maybe, this road's long and lonely
Without you as my one and only
Mama I can’t be without your drama
On account that you’re the sugar in my bowl

Sure I could lie, play like I don’t give a damn
Why should I let you go with some other man?

I know that I’m trippin’ here
But I can’t let you disappear
On this brother
I’m not the kind of man who can’t say sorry
Every papa needs a mommy baby
I ain’t losing you

Ain’t no higher than a mountain top
Ain’t no sweeter than a lollipop
Ain’t nobody make me feel more hot
Ain’t no woman like the one I got
Ain’t more better than the body rock
Holdin’ your woman while the old school drops
Thinkin’ I’ll love you till the last tick tock
Ain’t no woman like the one I got
